What is SCTLC?
 
 
South Carolina: Teaching, Learning, and Connecting (SCTLC) is a South Carolina Department of Education web resource with South Carolina’s standards as its core. It provides a fully searchable database of South Carolina standards, lesson plans, and professional development and assessment resources as well as a lesson plan builder, Slate.

  • A search engine that is linked to over 10,000 lesson plans (including over 1600 Marco Polo and National Teacher Training Institute lesson plans).

  • SC standards that can be filtered by level of specificity and grade and searched by keywords or phrases.

  • A directory of materials and resources that support each subject.

  • Site links and “Tabs” make navigation easy.

  • Professional development and training opportunities arranged by content, region, and date.

  • School Districts can now add their training opportunities here.
 
 
 
What is Slate?  
 

Search and comment on lesson plans submitted by others. Slate, the SCTLC lesson/unit plan builder, is a step-by-step online tool for educators to use to create and share standards-based lesson/unit plans.

Use Slate now:           

Major Uses for Slate:

  1. to build good lessons/units aligned to the South Carolina standards (using the database of SC standards in SCTLC).
  2. to store and share lessons/units you have used and found to be valuable.
  3. to serve as a professional development resource to assist teachers in identifying and developing the components of a standards-based lesson/unit.
  4. to save and edit lessons/units. You can save the lesson/unit online (in your own personal workspace) and go back to it later.
  5. to obtain a peer review and evaluation of your lesson/unit plan using specific criteria.
