Summarize ways in which people are both alike and different from one another in different regions of the United States and the world, including their culture, language, and jobs.

Suggested Activities:

  • Compare yourself to friend, acquaintance, or a character in a book that has a different culture or lives in a different region of the United States. You may use a Venn diagram or
    another type of differences/ likenesses graphic organizer. Use a map to locate both your
    region and the region for your comparison.
  • Students will pretend that they have met an alien. Role-play to interview the alien and help him to understand how people interact with one another. The teacher should be the alien in order to ask about cultural questions.
  • Compare different versions of the Cinderella story from around the world.
